We assume the rights of freedom and debate its political boundaries, yet how often do we take time to think about what freedom means to us personally?
Freedom is not a stone-sculpted concept
It is malleable and personal, always shifting in shape depending on where you stand and the angle of the slanting light.
My personal definition of freedom is the ability to act without external restriction or retribution, based on my convictions. It’s the ability to represent myself as I see myself as being, not hiding or disguising who I am to pursue happiness, fulfillment, and growth. It’s the power of free self-expression. Personal liberty is one of my three greatest values.
There are of course limits to freedom. That’s why my actions shouldn’t hurt others or restrict their personal freedoms. Therefore, this is consciousness dancing. Will I want to conflict with what other people want or need? If so, how can I possess the personal autonomy that I need while respecting those around me?
